self taught, passionate and unique
Chris Cyprus was born in Gorton , Manchester, eventually moving to the rolling pennine hills of Mossley, via Stockport. Completely self taught, Chris began painting following a work related back injury, which saw him unable to work for many months.
His previous job titles include, touring musician, builder, carpet fitter, and landscape gardener.
The one vocation that made Chris truly happy was painting. A combination of gritty determination and passion have helped Chris realise his dream of making a living from producing art.
His place of work Woodend Mill, is a former cotton mill on the banks of the River Tame, in his home town of Mossley.

Inspirational art made in the heart of the pennines
The emotions your paintings evoke are incredible. They lift my heart like no other artwork does. It takes me to a happy place.
Thank you for preserving that wonderful golden glow of the street lights, and for all your paintings.
Many of Chris' works evoke memories of my growing up in Manchester. The light depicted in his paintings as evening approaches reminds me of those times
Chris' work captures the colourful warmth & brightness of the Northern landscape, as well as the mundane & ordinary. Very inspiring!
Chris’s paintings are so magical they transport the viewer into a world where the ordinary is extraordinary. The simple everyday is stunning and beautiful through Chris’ eyes. We should all see the world as he sees it
