About Chris

Chris Cyprus is a self taught artist originally from Gorton Manchester, best known for his evocative scenes of everyday life in northern towns, and depictions of life on the allotment

Chris moved to the rolling Pennine hills of Lancashire with his family in the mid 1970's, which sparked a love of exploring the countryside, and ultimately inspired him to start painting the local areas near his home

A work related back injury, and two diagnoses of cancer at a young age forced Chris to re-evaluate the important things in life, and set him on the path least travelled towards a lifelong career as an independent artist

In 2017 the BBC One Show & ITV news featured Chris' ‘Northern Lights’ series of 250 paintings capturing nostalgic sodium lit scenes of gritty northern towns

Chris works from his studio situated in a former cotton mill, on the banks of the River Tame in Mossley, Lancashire.
